Event description: In this exciting hands-on conference, participants will learn about a number of free and low-cost apps ($5 or less) that facilitate iPad content creation in order to engage and empower children of all ages and abilities. The apps will cover several categories, including reading, storytelling, eBook authoring, video and tutorials, communication, organization and more. Participants will view demonstrations of the apps and learn about implementation strategies via case studies.

Participants will also experience a great deal of hands-on time using iPad apps to create content for their children with special needs. During the hands-on portion, participants will have opportunities to share their content in a fun, collaborative environment. At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to: Identify iPad applications that are designed for creating content. Evaluate the effectiveness of iPad applications for specific user needs. Explain how iPad applications can be implemented with best practices.

Target Audience includes those working with children with special needs, including Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome. This includes special educators, psychologists, speech therapists, social workers, OTs, PTs, families/caregivers, and school administrators who are designing programs and curriculum.
