#MetKids Illustrator Series will include doodling activities in the galleries, explanations of illustrating techniques, comics about the Museum, and stories about how illustrations exist beyond a picture book’s pages, among others. This month will feature Lulu Delacre, a bilingual author, illustrator, and speaker, who has been writing and illustrating children’s books since 1980. The three-time Pura Belpré Award honoree and New York Times bestselling artist has lectured internationally and served as a juror for the National Book Awards. She has exhibited at museums including The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, The Original Art Show at the Society of Illustrators in New York, the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico, and the Zimmerli Art Museum. The Met presents over 5,000 years of art from around the world for everyone to experience and enjoy. The Museum lives in three iconic sites in New York City—The Met Fifth Avenue, The Met Breuer, and The Met Cloisters. Millions of people also take part in The Met experience online.
Since it was founded in 1870, The Met has always aspired to be more than a treasury of rare and beautiful objects. Every day, art comes alive in the Museum's galleries and through its exhibitions and events, revealing both new ideas and unexpected connections across time and across cultures.
