ONLINE #MetKids Illustrator Series: Rudy Gutierrez

#MetKids Illustrator Series will include doodling activities in the galleries, explanations of illustrating techniques, comics about the Museum, and stories about how illustrations exist beyond a picture book’s pages, among others. This month will feature Rudy Gutierrez, an American Artist/Illustrator and Educator of Puerto Rican heritage. He is a Pratt Institute Graduate and his art has been published and exhibited worldwide. Among his awards are an International Labor Communications Honor, and from the Society of Illustrators, a Gold Medal, the Dean Cornwell Hall of Fame Award, and Distinguished Educator in the Arts Award. His children’s book art has garnered him a Caldecott Honor Award, Pura Belpré Award, an Américas Book Award, an Africana Book Award, a Shining Willow Honor, and a New York Book Award. Gutierrez has lectured at various institutions and teaches at Pratt Institute.
