August Pullman (Jacob Tremblay) doesn’t want to start fifth grade, and if he has to, he’ll be wearing an astronaut helmet. Born with facial differences, Perks of Being a Wallflower director Stephen Chbosky tenderly captures the day-to-day existence of Auggie, of a boy trying his best to fit in. Anchored by strong performances by Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson as Auggie’s parents, this adaptation of R. J. Palacio’s 2012 novel is a testament to unconditional love and acceptance. Rated PG. Proof of vaccination is required for on-site film screenings.
