Event description: Featuring some seventy masterpieces of drawings, books, maps, and letters from the Morgan's rich holdings, the exhibition Renaissance Venice: Drawings from the Morgan chronicles the artistic production of the city of Venice and its territories during the republic's Golden Age, the sixteenth century. The exhibition features striking examples by great masters of the period, including Paris Bordone, Vittore Carpaccio, Lorenzo Lotto, Jacopo Tintoretto, Titian, and Paolo Veronese.

Offering compelling insights into contemporary art, religion, and culture, Renaissance Venice addresses topics such as the portrait in Venetian art, Venice and the landscape tradition, religious and civic life, artistic innovations in printmaking and drawing, book publishing and cartography, and the role of foreign artists in the city. This is the first presentation and study of these drawings as a group and the first show in the United States on this theme.
