Description: From horse-drawn omnibuses to electric cars, transportation in New York City has undergone many changes since the 1800s. Explore how the waterways were used to move around the city of islands by visiting the installation of marine paintings and then head back to the classroom to discover other modes of transportation showcased in images from the museum's collection.

Using what you learned, you will then create a timeline of the evolution of transportation in the city, including your own ideas for future innovations that could include natural gas or hybrid vehicles.

Reservations are strongly recommended, except where noted. Email egoldin@mcny.org or call 917-492-3371 for more information.
