Juneteenth: Songs for Our Fathers

The Lincoln Park Conservancy and the City of New Rochelle celebrate Juneteenth with the theme “Songs for Our Fathers.” The event is being organized by a coalition of community groups and will include an Urban Legacy Jubilee at Lincoln Park (Lincoln Ave. and Prince St.) on Saturday, June 18th from noon to 5 pm, followed by a screening of the documentary “Leveling Lincoln;” a quilting workshop and an African dance workshop presented by the Bokandeye African Dancers at the New Rochelle Public Library (1 Library Plaza) on Saturday, June 18th;  family activities at the Thomas Paine Cottage (20 Sicard Ave.)  on Saturday, June 18th; a celebration at City Hall (515 North Ave.) from noon to 5 pm on Sunday, June 19th featuring a Bokandeye African Dance and drum procession, a Juneteenth flag raising, a  jazz concert, African Marketplace, food vendors, and more; and a trolley tour of New Rochelle’s Black enclave with City Historian Barbara Davis on Monday, June 20th.
