Join Cartoonist and Educator Ivan Velez as he teaches the fundamentals of manga to create characters of diversity, empowerment and tolerance to create new worlds in this week's vendor series!

Monday/Wednesday - A Better World - Using the manga artform to create stories and characters of diversity, empowerment, and tolerance. Creating new worlds that are fair, diverse and fun, we learn how to use cartooning and Manga to make the world a better place. 

Tuesday/Thursday - Real World Comics - In this multicultural comics class, participants will  focus on creating characters of color and other diversity, as well on focusing on social issues and stories that are more true-to-life. 

Friday - The Milestonians - Focusing on the groundbreaking Comics company that featured real diversity of race, ethnicity, gender and orientation in their superhero universe (i.e. Static Shock, Icon and the Blood Syndicate), the class focuses on the important and brave firsts in mainstream comics, from the first women heroes to the first of color to fight crime. Also touched upon are some unsuccessful tries and real tips on how to create real-feeling multicultural characters in the fantastical universe of your choice.
