Nyack Hospital

Event description: The most important thing a mom can do is to be there for her kids. To that end, members of the community are invited to help support the hospital's Blow Away Breast Cancer campaign, which raises money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. Funds raised from this annual event, which includes a 5K walk / run in the morning, help the hospital to provide free breast cancer screenings for un- and under-insured women in Rockland County. After the walk, hear presentations by Nyack's mayor, the director of Breast and Women's Health Prevention Services at Nyack Hospital, and a breast cancer survivor. Guests are invited to plant a pinwheel in a breast cancer ribbon garden as well as sample pinwheel-inspired goodies from local bakeries. Refreshments, raffles, prizes, give aways, and women's health educational information available. Throughout the month, look for pink pinwheels at business that are supporting the cause. And if you dine out at Union Restaurant in Haverstraw on October 2, 9, 16, or 23, 20% of your bill will be donated to the Blow Away Breast Cancer campaign.
