Breastfeeding is unquestionably natural, but by definition every first-time mama is a first-time breastfeeder and therefore can benefit from a little instruction. Breastfeeding for Beginners is informative, practical, and insightful, but it's also relaxed. A wide range of topics will be covered, including:
* how to initiate breastfeeding * recognizing feeding cues * techniques for ensuring a good latch * different positions for breastfeeding * how to know if baby is getting "enough" * common myths and misconceptions * nursing gear (bras, pumps, milk storage, etc.) * working and breastfeeding * and much more
The class is highly interactive, with ample time for discussion and questions. It is recommended for women in their 34th week of pregnancy and beyond. Registration is on an ongoing basis, with participants limited to 10 expectant moms per class plus one additional support person each, if desired.
