The buildings on the estate are monuments to the opulent lifestyle for which Long Island’s North Shore is known. The 216-acre Sands Point Preserve is an interesting mixture of natural and landscaped areas. Diverse natural habitats for a variety of plants and animals are supported on the the Preserve including mature forest, woodlands, fields, meadows, a freshwater pond, glacial cliffs and shoreline on the Long Island Sound. Visitors are welcome to stroll, hike, jog and/or run on the six marked trails through the woods, around the pond, and along the beach.
