Axial Theatre in Pleasantville will inaugurate its 14th season with Clifford Odets' classic Depression-era drama, "Awake and Sing!" This will be a first for Axial as the Westchester theatre company has, until now, exclusively produced new works, often by emerging artists. Howard Meyer, artistic director of Axial Theatre and HMActing, the affiliated acting/playwriting school, explains that the piece is particularly relevant in today's economic climate. He says, "A line reads, 'Life is not printed on dollar bills.' That's a central theme of this masterpiece, finding the balance between working to sustain a family and carving out time to truly be alive." Please make reservations at brownpapertickets.com/event/253189 or call 800-838-3006. For more information, call Jaki Silver at 516-984-4515. Performances Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8pm; Sundays at 4pm, Oct. 18-Nov. 4.
Address: 18 Sunnyside Ave. Pleasantville, NY 10570
