Description: On Wednesday, April 3, at 8pm young international star and guest guitarist, Alexander Milovanov will join renowned musician Anthony Newman and the Bedford Chamber Ensemble in an evening of Vivaldi and Boccherini.

Originally from the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Milovanov has been cited as a faithful and expressive interpreter with exceptional musicality that captures the attention of the listener through a powerful insight and strong technical facility. Julian Gray, Guitar Department Chair of Peabody Conservatory says, "He possesses a virtuoso technique that he uses with authority to meet the demands of the most challenging guitar repertoire - indeed at those moments, his playing can seem like a force of nature." Currently, as a full scholarship and fellowship recipient, Mr. Milovanov is the Artist Diploma candidate at the Yale University School of Music under the direction of Benjamin Verdery.

The program will include Vivaldi's popular Concerto for guitar and strings in D, Boccherini's "Fandango" Quintet in D for guitar and strings, as well as works for solo guitar. Vivaldi's Concerto, a lively piece most likely originally written for lute or mandolin, is familiar to many music lovers in its present form for guitar. Boccherini arranged many of his own earlier works for guitar and string quartet. His "Fandango" Quintet draws inspiration from the provocative Spanish couples dance he incorporates into the final movement.
