April 27th is Tilly Foster Day/Spring Fling. The official "opening day" for the season includes sheep shearing, weaving and spinning demonstrations, farrier-led horse-shoeing demonstrations, a craft fair, bounce house, face painting, crafts, historic exhibits, food, hay rides, and more. Plus the other sign of Spring - babies at the Farm! So far there are 7 lambs and 3 calves; coming up will be baby rabbits and piglets!
Tilly Foster Farm Museum is open 10am-4pm every day. In addition to a collection of rare and endangered early American farm animals, Tilly Foster Farm is home to the Putnam County Antique Machinery Association's display of antique tractors and antique farm equipment, and the Avalon Archives - a unique Museum of Roots & Rock 'N Roll.
Tilly Foster Farm is managed by The Society for the Preservation of Putnam County Antiquities (aka Preserve Putnam), a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization.
