Enjoy some high-flying fun at The Science Barge Season Opening. The Science Barge, an award-winning, internationally recognized program of Groundwork Hudson Valley, will celebrate the American eel on opening day, Saturday, April 13 on the Hudson River waterfront in downtown Yonkers. Activities will include kite-flying, hunting for glass eels, build-a-boat, riding the Energy Bike to power light bulbs, and potting a hydroponic plant to take home. Enjoy lively music, cookies, and juice. Free walk-on tours will be offered from 2-6pm.
The Science Barge, which operates as an environmental education center, is a sustainable urban farm powered by solar panels, wind turbines, and biofuels, and irrigated by rainwater. It is located at 99 Dock Street, Yonkers, NY 10701.
