Time Machine in BPC: From Landfill to Waterfront Community II

Join this Family Program! If the Skyscraper Museum gallery was a time machine and you traveled back 50 years, you would be standing on sand! The neighborhood that is now Battery Park City was created as new land in the Hudson River, beginning with some excavations from the foundations for the original World Trade Center. In this program, you'll time travel back forty years to see how artists turned landfill in Battery Park City into art projects, then imagine and draw your own projects for outdoor land art or public sculptures using photography. Recommended for 2nd-6th grade. This program for kids (and their guardians) meets at The Skyscraper Museum and is held principally outdoors. The gallery will be accessible: masks are required indoors. For outdoor activities, current NYS guidelines will be followed. You must reserve a place for your child/family through the Eventbrite button. Every child should be accompanied by a parent/guardian. The maximum number of households per program is 20. In the event of bad weather, you will be notified via Eventbrite. Family programs are free! Reservation priority is given to Skyscrapers Museum members and residents of Battery Park City. Summer programs are supported by a Community Partnership with the Battery Park City Authority. Questions? Email programs@skyscraper.org or call the office.
