Event description: Spend the afternoon making art like the masters with the Family Art Project's Rama Mandel. Focus on Vincent van Gogh, the Dutch post-Impressionist painter whose large body of work incorporated his highly recognizable use of dashes, lines, and swirls. Begin by experimenting with mark-making, then use pencil and charcoal to create your own sketches of the landscape, and finally apply acrylic paint to canvas, Van Gogh-style. Program is geared to children between the ages of five and 10 with a parent or caregiver. Space is limited. Registration is required, online at wavehill.org, onsite at the Perkins Visitor Center, or by calling 718-549-320 x251.
