Weinberg Nature Center

Pre-school & younger, Young elementary

Event description: Ever wonder where birds come from or where do they go? Why they are so big or small? Watch birds from the Center's feeder station and try to find as many different birds as possible. By looking at artifacts and playing games, children in grades K-5 will learn about bird adaptations like what they eat, where they live, and why they stay or go in the winter. Each child will get to take home a pinecone feeder. Take a journey through the woods to find traces of mammals...deer, fox, and squirrels are just a few of the furry creatures that are lurking through the woods. The afternoon will be filled with mammal games, crafts, and play time with the domestic mammals that live at Center's trailside museum.

Nature workshops are held on most school conference days in the Scarsdale School District. They will include interactive demonstrations, a take-home craft, nature-themed games, an outdoor walk in the woods, and live animals. Dress for weather and pack a lunch.
