Finding the Hidden Treasure in Your Family: From Slavery to Freedom. Join Westbury Public Library for an important, thought-provoking program presented by Cheryl Wills, an award-winning anchor, reporter and journalist for “New York 1 News.“ She is the author of Die Free: A Heroic Family History, which traces her great-great-great grandfather Sandy Wills’ courageous service in the Civil War as a member of the U.S. Colored Troops. Cheryl made history as the first journalist invited to speak before the United Nations General Assembly for the International Remembrance of Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
