Event description: WCC celebrates National Wolf Awareness Week with a bird-of-prey experience presented by mother-daughter falconer team, Lorrie Schumacher (mother), and Talon Skye (teenage daughter), of TALONS! Guests will meet beautiful feathered ambassadors - European Owl, Barred Owl, Barn Owl Lanner Falcon, Ring Necked Raven, and Harris's Hawk - during the educational and interactive bird of Prey experience. TALONS! offers a high level of audience participation and helps to teach visitors how birds fly and interact with their environment during controlled flying demonstrations. The presenters will cover such topics as raptor characteristics, life history, conservation, and the importance of raptors in maintaining the environment's natural balance. Guests will have the opportunity to hold a Raptor.

Guests will also enjoy visiting WCC's Ambassador and other wolves. Each guest will receive an official 2013 Wolf Awareness Week poster. Pre-registration is required.

The Wolf Conservation Center (WCC), founded in 1999 by Hélène Grimaud, is a private, not-for-profit environmental education organization located in South Salem, NY.

The WCC’s mission is to promote wolf conservation by teaching about wolves, their relationship to the environment, and the human role in protecting their future. The WCC accomplishes this mission through onsite and offsite education programs emphasizing wolf biology, the ecological benefits of wolves and other large predators, and the current status of wolf recovery in the United States.
