Read More About Nature Place Day Camp (The)
The Nature Place is a non-competitive, nature-oriented day camp for children ages 4-16, located on 200 acres in Chestnut Ridge, NY, with bus transportation from NYC, Bergen County, NJ, and Westchester.
We truly love what we've been doing for over 30 years: providing campers with a safe summer in which they can be themselves, be challenged, have fun, connect with others and the earth, develop new skills, and be supported throughout.
At The Nature Place campers discover hands-on, pressure-free programming and an exceptionally well-trained staff. They do not find competitive sports, awards, TV or video games. Instead, campers go outside, explore, create and play.
Through outdoor play and learning and cooperation rather than competition, we encourage within each of our campers a sense of wonder towards the natural world. We do this through a variety of activities: gardening, cooking, swimming, earth art, games, hiking, music, drama, storytelling, farming and more.
CAMPS -- DAY CAMPS -
Now more than ever before it is imperative for children to develop love for a sense of place and for the natural world. Through cultivating cooperation rather than competition with peers, by allowing space for individual expression, and through creative, outdoor programming, we aim to do this. The Nature Place Day Camp: connecting children with nature through reverence and wonder for 32 years.
Meet the Director |
Ed Bieber (back right, accompanied by director of programming Scott Dunn, as well as Ed and Scott's children who also work at or attend The Nature Place) is the owner and director of The Nature Place Day Camp. Ed created The Nature Place 32 summers ago to be a non-competitive and nature-oriented alternative program where children can connect with themselves, with one another, and with the Earth. A leader in outdoor and environmental education in Rockland County and surrounding areas for more than 45 years, Ed keeps the ‘nature’ in The Nature Place.
