Camp W "Where Friendships Are Made" is a day-camp in Melville for children ages 4-15. We offer 1-8 week sessions from 9:00am until 3:30 pm. Early Care is available with a start time of 7:30 am. Late Care goes until 6:00 pm. Campers enjoy athletics : baseball, basketball, swimming and ga ga just to name a few. Easel Painting and ceramics are just a few sample of creative art activities. Robotics, Game Room, Go Karts and Lego Room are some of the unique activities that we offer. Weekly Group Performance Skits, Team Building Tuesdays, Weekly professional entertainment, water-slides pasta lunch on Wednesdays, Pizza lunch on Thursdays and BBQ on Fridays. Ice cream served daily with snack in the morning for campers in Pre-K through 1st Grade. Campers in 2nd grade and up choose their afternoon activities. Each group is designed by their current grade level. Groups have a maximum of 15 campers with a Head Counselor and Assistant Counselor.
Evan spent 14 summers at Brooklake Day Camp as a camper and then as a camp counselor. Evan spent the next 22 years working for Camp Horizons in Livingston, NJ, as their Sports Director and Assistant Camp Director. His enthusiastic, fun-loving personality and concern for children’s best interests all solidify his commitment to making the summer the best camp experience for your child. Evan has a degree in elementary education and has been a middle school math teacher since 1993. He is also the owner of Bar Mitzvah Bouncer. Evan and his wife Stacy are the parents of three wonderful children.
Camp W's enthusiastic staff is the reason campers love their camp experience. The staff consists of teachers, parents, college students and high school students. All staff are required to have a criminal background check and and a sexual offender check. Staff are also required to attend several staff training sessions about safety, camp protocol and a workshop on building friendships.
Early Care begins at 7:30 am Campers have the option of playing sports on the fields or being under the tent working on an art project or playing a board game. Late Care begins at 3:30 pm Campers will use the Game Room, Ceramic Room and the Computer Lab and rotate under the supervision of staff.
Camp begins as soon as we pick up your child curbside in the morning and ends when we drop your child curbside at home. Our busses are equipped with air-conditioning, seat belts and seat twenty to thirty campers. Each bus will have a bus counselor checking every camper to make sure his or her seat belt is on. Our bus drivers focus on driving safely to camp while the bus counselor will interact with your child on the bus. The bus counselor will escort your child on the bus and make sure their seat belt is on before the bus moves. Bus counselors also escort your child off the bus.
For 4 year olds to campers entering first grade. These campers are in our kiddie Camp Division. Each group is gender based and grouped according to the grade they are entering in September. Each group has a counselor and a few assistant counselors. They have a Kiddie Corner to play and rest. The Kiddie corner is air conditioned and has bathrooms just for these campers. Campers in this division enjoy three professional camp entertainment shows every week and two delicious snacks every day.
Middle Camp consists of campers entering 2nd and 3rd grade. Groups average 12 campers with a head counselor and an assistant counselor in each group to supervise. Campers follow a group schedule in the morning and after lunch they get two choice periods before returning to their group schedule. Campers have one late night at camp where they eat dinner with their parents at camp.
Upper Camp consists of campers entering 4th grade through 8th grade. Groups average 12 campers with a head counselor and an assistant counselor in each group. Campers will have a set schedule in the morning. After lunch, campers will have an all afternoon choice periods, and then return to their groups for the last period of the day. Campers in our 6th-8th Grades go on several off site trips. All campers in this division are invited to the camp sleepover.
Apprentices will learn how the safety systems and the many different program that are used by Camp W staff. They will also meet with a camp administrator once a week to discuss their experiences, participate in staff training and assist with the different roles needed to make Camp run effectively. The day consists of many different tasks that prepare them to become part of the Camp W Staff. This program is Free of Charge.
Camp W is a unique summer camp program specifically designed to meet the needs of each camper. Our age appropriate programs give us the opportunity to provide each camper with a safe, fun and rewarding experience. We offer a wide range of activities that are designed to fit the needs of campers of all ages and skill levels under the supervision of our experienced, caring counselors. Sports, arts & crafts, music, camp shows, and special events will provide a fun-filled day for every member of our Camp W family. Camp W offers every child the chance to pursue their interests and passions. We provide the staff needed to help campers develop skills and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Learn a new skill or refine one you already know. Your child will choose from a variety of sports, creative arts and many other activities. Watch what this does for your child’s self-esteem, decision-making and independence. Every two weeks your child will select new activities If your child does not like the activity they selected, they can switch into a different activity with a note from home: • Grades 2 & 3 have two daily choice periods • Grades 4 – 8 have three daily choice periods A Choice Period Activity Sheet with an explanation of all available activities is available on our website for your child starting at camp for weeks 1 and 2.

Waterslide Wednesdays is just one of many ways that we cool down at Camp W. Campers have an option of participating in our Swim program daily. Swim groups are 1:4 and campers learn how to swim by an American Red Cross Swim instructor. Not only do they get a waterslide every Wednesday they also have Water Olympics to look forward to. Camp W provides many ways to cool down during the summer. Whether it be in our Air conditioned facilities, instructional swim program, the many different waterslides, slip and slides and water events. You are guaranteed a cool summer!!!
There’s No Place Like Camp W- Camp W is a special place where everyone knows your name. Our small group size allows us to provide special attention your child deserves. With a 1:3 ratio our staff really gets to know your child and this is proven by our weekly phone calls to you. Every week your child’s counselor calls home to let you know how your child is doing, all the great activities he/she is participating in as well as the many friends they have made at camp. We have a program that is customized with your child’s interests. They get to design their program every two weeks to activities they like. Don’t want to swim? They do not have to swim, instead they can spend their time enjoying activities they love to do. There is no place like Camp W!!!
There is no shortage of sports at Camp W. Kids will have an opportunity to participate in a variety of sports. From the old time favorites of dodgeball to gaga ball. There is something for everyone. Upper Campers can spend their whole afternoon playing sports if they choose. Kickball, Football, Softball, Baseball, Volleyball, Wiffle ball, Capture the Flag and soccer to name just a few.

Meet the Director Evan Wofsy, owner and director of Camp W Day Camp, is so thrilled to own his own day camp. His dream has always been to be a camp owner and now it’s a reality. Evan has been involved in camping and teaching for more than 20 years. He brings the love and passion to his camp and considers himself to be the biggest kid yet. Camp is a special place for kids and as long as we make it about the kids first it will always be a special place. |
