(May. 15, 2019) - The Youth Art Connection program takes place at the American Folk Art Museum’s Self Taught Genius Gallery and administrative offices in Long Island City, Queens, and welcomes applications from high school students residing or attending school in Queens. Participating students will explore folk and self-taught art and learn about careers in the arts through a variety of engaging activities.
(Feb. 11, 2019) - On Feb. 28, Artists Against Hate will be performing Bully the Bully at Taino Theatre in Long Island City. There will be a 1pm showing for the students and faculty of the Garden School and a 7pm show for the general public. Bully the Bully: Artists Against Hate is an original mixed media work featuring poetry, scenes, and dance. They explore the importance of human connection and kindness in a charged political climate where different is often seen as vulgar or unusual.
NewYork-Presbyterian Queens and The American Lung Association Host “Freedom from Smoking Group Quit Program”
(Oct. 10, 2018) - NewYork-Presbyterian Queens and The American Lung Association will host a free eight-week program for members of the community to learn about how to quit smoking that began on Thursday, October 4th at Primary Care Center, 182-15/19 Horace Harding Expressway in Fresh Meadows.
(Jun. 06, 2018) - On May 19, Early Scholars was named the "Top Elementary Debate Team" in New York City, earning the spot as 2018 champions. Early Scholars has held the champion position for three years running. The award came after the NYC Urban Debate League Tournament hosted by the largest city debate team in the nation. To win the award, the Early Scholars team participated in three rounds of debate covering two topics.
(May. 22, 2018) - The Tourette Association of America, the premier national non-profit organization serving the Tourette Syndrome (TS) and Tic Disorder community, hosted the 2018 National Awareness 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, May 20 at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. More than 300 participants and spectators, including community leaders, medical and business professionals, athletes, families, and other advocates, gathered in Queens to support those living with Tourette Syndrome and other Tic Disorders. The event raised more than $70,000 to fund research and necessary programs, and foster social acceptance of Tourette Syndrome.

The workshop, which begins in the fall, will be taught by professional dance choreographers who are not only top-notch teaching artists but who also reflect New York City’s multi-ethnic diversity

It will be in the evenings, 6:30PM to 8:30PM, at our AIR CONDITIONED Bayside location, PS 046 on 218th Street. We are offering Skill Training, for players that have had some experience, ages 8-10, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. And, Advanced Skill Training for players 11-15, Mondays and Wednesdays.
