(Oct. 15, 2018) - Among other fall highlights, the Art League of Long Island is offering a special one-day workshop in “Calligraphy with Howard Rose” on October 20 from 10am to 12pm, where kids ages 7-14 learn the art of beautiful lettering. In addition, the Portfolio Prep class starting November 13 is perfect for teens with plans for a career in the arts, as they will need a portfolio to gain entry to the college of their choice.
(Sep. 04, 2018) - On Thursday, August 9 at Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts, Bob Murphy’s Violin Shop in Melville awarded two of the camp's outstanding students new instruments. Violinist Allison Arias, a student at Celia Cruz High School of Music in the Bronx and violist Eliel De Los Santos of Brentwood High School in Brentwood, were nominated by their instructors and Usdan Executive Director Lauren Brandt Schloss for their hard work and dedication to their instruments. Rob Murphy was on hand to present each of the young musicians with new German instruments and a pledge for lifetime repair. The heartwarming presentation took place during final days of Usdan's 50th anniversary season, which ended on August 9.

The ceremony was a special time to thank supporters of SAEC and recognize the students who made so many positive changes in their lives. It was also an opportunity for visitors to learn more about Sunshine and the work they do in local communities.
