My Gym in Stony Brook and Huntington Expand Offerings

My Gym Stony Brook and My Gym Huntington now offer Art Explorers class and new birthday party options and themes, with aerial silks coming to gymnastic classes in the spring. The fitness centers in Suffolk County serve children ages 4 months-11 years old.

The Art Explorers class opened this fall, during which children learn about art concepts and artists, can create art, and also have an opportunity to enjoy the gym. A teacher who’s an artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts developed the program for the My Gym franchise.

“I love the curriculum,” says My Gym Stony Brook and Huntington owner Debbie Greenberg, “I think it really exposes the children to the diverse art world, to the variety of artwork that’s out there, and techniques—it just really inspires their creativity.”

My Gym in Stony Brook and Huntington will also be incorporating aerial silks, long fabric sheets that hang from the ceiling, into spring gymnastic classes. “It’s a great way to improve the children’s flexibility, coordination, strength, and balance—not to mention it’s fun,” Greenberg says. She notes the gyms had a successful trial run with the aerial silks last fall.

My Gym in Stony Brook and Huntington recently added birthday party themes Moana, Trolls, Shimmer and Shine, and Tsum Tsum. Birthday parties can now also include a balloon drop or selfie station.
