School Supplies Donated to Long Beach High School to Help Rebuild After Hurricane Sandy

Office Depot and REAL Change Productions recognize teachers for their positive influence on today’s youth by donating technology and school supplies to many schools across the U.S., including Long Beach High School’s Dr. Andy Smith.

Long Beach high school donation eventOn Monday, Feb. 25, representatives from Office Depot and REAL Change Productions, a program that helps raise donations to benefit teachers through Adopt-A-Classroom, arrived at Long Beach High School in Nassau County on Long Island to surprise teacher Dr. Andy Smith with new technology products and school supplies for his classroom.

After being affected by Hurricane Sandy last October, Dr. Smith welcomes new Samsung Tablets and pens, pencils, markers, highlighters, and erasers for his social studies class.

Dr. Smith is a local recipient of the REAL Change program’s Adopt-A-Classroom, which collects and distributes funds to help teachers offset their classroom expenses.

Testing Samsung TabletThis story is part of a larger REAL Change story that will be featured during a CBS telecast on April 23, which will feature several top artists, including Justin Bieber, Pitbull, and Miley Cyrus. In the program, these pop stars will visit their own hometown classrooms to recognize the teachers who have inspired them. The TV special aims to raise donations to benefit teachers through Adopt-A-Classroom.
