Baked Macaroni and Cheese with Crumbled Bacon Recipe

Long Islander Penelope Guzman shares her recipe for baked mac and cheese with bacon.

Ingredients:
  • 16 oz. macaroni (elbow pasta)
  • 2 Tbs. butter
  • ½ cup milk
  • 8 oz. cheddar cheese (cut into small cubes)
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled (or ¼ cup bacon bits)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350º F.

2. Boil macaroni in a pot of salted water to al dente (approximately 5-6 minutes). Turn hurt to low and drain pasta, then return to pot.

3. Stir in butter, milk, and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Add in cheddar cheese in small chunks and stir until macaroni is well coated, then add in parmesan cheese and crumbled bacon and stir together over low to medium heat.

4. Place macaroni and cheese in a baking dish, and bake for 15 minutes.

5. Serve and enjoy!

Tips: Cut cheddar cheese into very small pieces to melt faster. Using packaged macaroni with cheddar cheese as an alternative for some ingredients is also fine on days you have less time.
