If you named your baby Charlotte or Oliver this year, you were among many other parents in the U.S. who had the same idea.
According to BabyNames.com, the most popular names for 2015 are Charlotte for girls and Oliver for boys. BabyNames.com released their list of the 10 most popular names of boys and girls in America on November 27.
“Since our popularity lists are derived from our millions of members’ favorite name lists, they actually predict the future birth trends by one to three years,” Jennifer Moss, BabyNames.com founder, said in a statement.
The nine other popular girls names, in order, are Amelia, Aria, Olivia, Scarlett, Ava, Violet, Nora, Emma, and Aurora. The other boy names are Liam, Benjamin, Owen, Jackson, Henry, Declan, Ethan, Noah, and Alexander.
Liam has been the most popular boy name for the past four years, but has now been overtaken by Oliver, Moss says.
It is no surprise that Charlotte is the most popular name because of Princess Charlotte—Prince William and Kate Middleton’s daughter who was born in May this year.
Moss predicts that some future popular names include Freya, Maya, Matilda, and Luna for girls, and Lincoln, Felix, and Atticus for boys.
