Prospect Heights Children’s Studio and Store Now Open

Tykes in the Heights, a children’s store and activity center, recently opened in Prospect Heights. The store offers classes such as sing-alongs, art and creative movement, mommy-and-me time, and creative workshops for kids of all ages.

At Tykes in the Heights’ tree house and fairy house workshop, children were able to build their own houses.

Designed with all the trappings of a chic, urban playhouse, newly opened children’s store and creative studio Tykes in the Heights offers kids of all ages (and parents, too!) fun activities all year-round.

Open Monday-Saturday from 10:30am-7:30pm, and Sundays from 10am-6pm, Tykes in the Heights has something for everyone, including lively sing-along music classes, art and creative movement classes, as well as coveted mommy-and-me time for tykes, toddlers, and older kids, too.

Kat Forsyth, owner and instructor at Tykes in the Heights, opened the doors in May just steps away from lush Prospect Park. There is much more in the works, says Forsyth, including a baby DJ class planned to debut at the end of August and yoga for kids beginning in October.

At Tykes in the Heights, the focus isn’t just on the kids, says Forsyth. During Saturday Date Night, held from 6-8pm, parents are able to drop their kids off for a night of themed entertainment while they go out to dinner or relax for a few hours.

Families can also enjoy the store’s outdoor space, which Forsyth says is perfect for hosting birthdays and private parties. The backyard is also the spot for weekly gardening classes, held on Mondays at 3pm.

Forsyth says she stocks the store with lots of cool items, from unique arts and crafts supplies, toys and musical instruments to children’s furniture and room décor as well as a range of organic products and clothing. Check out the shop’s online store to get a preview of what you can find.
