Future Stars Summer Camps to Offer New Programs at Old Westbury and Farmingdale Locations

Future Stars Summer Camps, a day camp for children kindergarten through 10th grades with locations in Westchester and Long Island, will add new programs to its lineups at the Old Westbury and Farmingdale campuses this year. Future Stars Summer Camps will run June 25-Aug. 17, with varying programs available based on location and weeks enrolled.

The Old Westbury location, based at the College at Old Westbury, will offer a web design and coding program. Here, children in third through ninth grades will learn web development and coding concepts using Java Script programming language. The program will be held in the college’s computer lab and will run July 23-Aug. 3.

Budding shutterbugs and filmmakers will be able to participate in the new photography and videography program that will be offered at the Farmingdale location based at Farmingdale State College. Children will film a variety of subjects around campus, including sports programs and special events, as they learn digital photo and video skills using Adobe Creative Suite software. The program is for children in fifth through 10th grades and will run July 16-27.

The weeklong programs include lunch and recreational activities as part of the daily itineraries.

Future Stars designed the new programs to give campers the opportunity to be creative and innovative thinkers. The programs were added this year in part because of their popularity, according to David Stapleton, camp director.

“This stuff is certainly what kids are more and more into in this hands-on digital age,” he says.

Similar multimedia programs were successful at other Future Stars locations, according to Stapleton, adding that the programs help build and expand the options at the Old Westbury and Farmingdale camps.

Registration is now open.
